MG — JOURNALLING: unpacking your life one sentence at a time.

Healing is a direct path to growth and its funny that people think they can get one without the other. I was drowning in a confused mental health state and journalling helped pulled me out. It unpacked my mind. Journalling is the act of expressing one’s feelings, emotions, and thoughts in words, it absorbs every feeling that one may be going through from being depressed to being anxious and even being bored.
“Journaling is like whispering to one’s self and listening at the same time.” — Mina Murray.
Journalling has a wide range when it comes to how many aspects of your life it’ll affect and to what extent. And all these aspects are geared towards enhancing your mental health, productivity, and personal growth. It instills mindfulness. I’m going to show you how journaling works and how it can help rebuild your life from a personal standpoint
Purpose and Calling
As you write down your interests, the small joys, your quirks, the things that make you tick, and your borderline passions. They all sum up to reveal your purpose. You don’t find your purpose by just sitting there; you find it by reflecting on every little moment that happens. As you reflect unconsciously, inspired ideas begin to drop in.
I believe that we all don’t have just one purpose but we’ll have several at various levels in our lives. Journalling helps unveil every one.
Letting Go
Sometimes we think we’ve moved past certain situations in our lives but most of the time we’re living in the illusion of freedom. We whisper to ourselves one motivational quote but we haven’t dealt with the issue.
While journaling there are questions you can ask yourself that expose the core of how exactly you’re feeling. You begin to peel off the truth layer by layer. It’ll help you figure out why you’re still holding on, whether it’s to friendship, your version of a story, or even past accomplishments.
This is just one of the benefits of journalling. You may not know exactly what you need to let go of so I suggest using this “30 days of Healing” journalling challenge.
As you acknowledge it, write it down and imagine yourself letting go of it as you do. Let the words float away.
Clatity
Humans are confused all the time, different thoughts, strategies, and connections go on in our mind every second of every day. We need to be directed towards the right perspective. And journaling does just that, it tunes your mind like a radio to the exact thing you should be focusing on
Seasons change and with that so do our goals. But we need help figuring out what season we’re in and what we should start building. What brick should you start with?
Journalling produces clear thinkers; it weeds out the noise and helps you be clear about your purpose during that season.
Figuring Out Who You Are
People change and grow. I think one doesn’t live life without growing. It’s such an essential. Journalling helps record the growth in your life. There’s growth in emotional intelligence, knowledge, expertise, opinions, and even perspective. And you can record all that in your journal
Sometimes we think we’re one thing but journaling reveals the truth; the truth about your relationship with yourself and other people. It shows you your present self and what you need to work on. It’s the most honest review you can do about yourself.
You can go back, reread and re-experience the joyful times. Reflect on how much you’ve grown, what you’ve overcome, and remind yourself of who you are even in a crisis.
The deciding factor of your greatness in life is your mind. And journalling allows you to have a relationship with your mind. A healthy one. It reinforces being intentional about daily learning, growth, and reflection.
